Hot Topics: George’s Ballroom Development Project

The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its upcoming Hot Topics Lunch-And-Learn event, George’s Ballroom Development Project, to be held on Wednesday, May 29th, from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the New Ulm Conference Center at Best Western Plus. The program will be presented by representatives from the current owners of the site, CBC Fisher Group.

The property known as ‘George’s Ballroom’ has a long history in New Ulm, beginning as a bowling alley and bar in the 1930s and 1940s. The ballroom closed in 1991, and owner and namesake George Neuwirth passed away in 1995. The building remained vacant decaying for decades and ownership issues followed. Brown County Commissioners approved demolition in 2019, commemorative street dance was held in 2023, and the building is now slated for demolition this fall.

Hot Topics are open to the community and all are encouraged to attend. The cost, which includes lunch, is $20 for members and $30 for members of the community. RSVP by May 24th: online here, or by contacting the Chamber at chamber@newulm.com or 507-233-4300.
