The Willkommen Committee stopped at Turner Hall to pop in and meet the new Executive Chef, George Downs! George comes to New Ulm via California, where he’s done a lot! He attended the Culinary Academy of San Francisco. After school he did some on-site dining, catering and even owned his own Mexican restaurant for five years. George came to New Ulm to visit his family in 2004. So, what’s his connection to New Ulm? George’s Great-Great-Grandfather, was one of the founders of Turner Hall! George said he is excited to keep the legacy of Turner Hall continue to grow and flourish. Currently he’s focused on maintaining the values of Turner Hall and making creative menus that can incorporate his own creative style. He mentioned that right now he’s putting a lot of focus on German platters! They hope to have more people to serve in the restaurant very soon. Congratulations and welcome to New Ulm, George! We look forward to you serving us some wonderful German cuisine!
